I remember Michelle and Johnny's wedding like it was yesterday. Michelle is one of those people who are pretty reserved when they just meet you, but then after a while you get to see just how much fun they have hiding behind gorgeous eyes! I met Michelle in the morning at Encore Hair Studio in Lethbridge - the girls there are so talented! When I saw Michelle's final hairstyle I was so impressed, she looked like she had walked straight off a beauty cover! Of course, isn't that what every bride wants for her day? We then headed to Michelle's family home to finish getting ready. To be honest, this time is always my favorite. As much as I like mud and mess and no makeup sometimes, there is such a strong girly streak in me that it makes my heart squishy to watch the dress go on, the shoes slipped into and the veil positioned perfectly.
The ceremony was held at the Italian Canadian Club in Lethbridge - these people know how to put a spread on! The decorations were so thoughful and uniquely personalized to Michelle and Johnny. They picked the verse "The cord of three strands in not easily broken" as part of their theme for their christian ceremony, and they even had a beautiful custom plaque to use for their unity ceremony.
After the more serious ceremony ( a good number of tears were shed around the room) we gathered up the bride and groom and headed to Alexander Wilderness Park for the bridal party pictures! This party made me laugh and laugh. The guys were making jokes, we tried our best to avoid bees, and mostly had a good time despite the heat. After a bit I took just Michelle and Johnny to downtown Lethbridge for some more intimate one on one pictures. I strongly encourage all my couples to set some time with just the two of them during pictures - no friends yelling in the background, no parents hovering - so they can have a little bit of time to connect in the busy day.
After that we were off again! Reception time was filled with good food, lots of laughs, good-natured speeches and of course classic wedding games. All in all Johnny and Michelle had a beautiful wedding day, surrounded by their loved ones they were able to say their vows to each other.
My hope is that they continue to grow closer together, that their marriage may be build on love and commitment, that they never forget the joy that brought them to this day
