{Mingshen + Fei} Intimate Vow Renewal | Yaletown, BC

Fei and Ming know how to celebrate the arrival of the new year with style. 5 years ago they got married on the holiday Monday after new years, and this year they decided to celebrate again by renewing their vows with an intimate ceremony in downtown Vancouver .

I met Fei and Ming at their home in White Rock - and it was really neat to experience the same excitement that I'm sure graced their wedding day. Fei got ready with the help of a dear friend and the ever talented  Caitlin J Makeup who did a phenomenal job complimenting Fei's features. With lots of giggles the dress was put on - a stunning empire waist chiffon piece that was complimented perfectly with a delicate lace top. As Fei decended the stairs her two little boys rushed to give her hugs. They approved of their mom's beautiful attire!

After a quick family picture we all piled into the limo for the drive to Vancouver's trendy Yaletown, watching a beautiful sunset on the way. As the light faded to dusk we found the perfect place for a few intimate portraits just outside the Yaletown train station. A gorgeous brick building, twinkling lights and the urban air around us reflected perfectly the bubbly joy this couple shares.

This was my first vow renewal and it's really beautiful to see how the nerves have disappeared and been replaced with quiet confidence in each other. Hugs are easier because they've been happening daily for years, little touches carry a weight of a long time together. Fei and Ming moved off to meet their guests arriving at The Loft at  Earl's Yaletown - an incredible venue perfect for this intimate ceremony!

The ceremony was sweet, clearly laden with meaningful words and of course little boys poking faces with spoons. Parents rock because they can say "You are the love of my life" in the same moment as pulling a spoon from down a shirt and removing little hands from said spoon. While all the words were in traditional Chinese, I could still tell that both Fei and Ming had put alot of thought into what was said!

After the ceremony we were treated to an incredible spread that included salmon, chicken, roasted vegetables and more sides than we could count. There were more speeches, more laughter, and most importantly time spent with dear friends.

I wish Fei and Ming many more years together - raising their family and sharing their deepening love for each other!
